Is buying a Chinese smartphone a good idea? We lived with the UMi Zero Android smartphone to find out

Over the past several years, we've witnessed the advent of quite a few Chinese smartphone brands, and anyone who follows our "Monsters from Asia" series is surely aware of that. Xiaomi, Meizu, IUNI, and Oppo are just some of the exotic brands that are steadily building a reputation throughout western markets with their handsets, while Huawei has been selling smartphones via European and U.S. carriers for years. Having all this trust in Chinese brands in mind, we did not hesitate to purchase a smartphone from a lesser-known yet promising Chinese company. The handset in question was the UMi Zero, which, on paper, seemed like an outstanding mid-range handset delivering excellent bang for the buck. Unfortunately, being a UMi owner turned out to be an underwhelming experience...
